Cafe Java in Austin

Love this place. This is my go to place for brunch and it is the best in Austin. It usually gets crowded though so expect a wait of 20-30 mins on weekends. The servers are really nice and friendly and they work real hard to maintain that old style diner atmosphere where you actually get a check that you take to the cashier and pay. Food suggestions - the Cajun chicken sandwich and the short stack of pancakes are my go to with a cup of black coffee. Check it out once and trust me you will fall in love.

Wonderful service, delicious beverages, creative daily specials, expansive but we'll executed menu, and an adorable atmosphere. Really enjoyed our time here, even for a guy like myself who really hates to eat out for breakfast. Can't recommend enough.

Down to earth vibe, not pretentious. If you come on a weekend brunch hour, waiting time could be pretty long and inside waiting area could be a little crowded. So check this lovely local restaurant on a not so rush hour if you can. Love their breakfast food, tacos are amazing.

This place is such a wonderful little hidden gem. The coffee is absolutely delicious and the food is pretty dang good for the price.

Not sure what the fuss is about. Perhaps I didn't order what they're well known for? There's always a long wait at this place so I thought it must be really good. It's small and crowded. Service was excellent though and the staff were really nice. Food is ok.

Cute place with great staff! Nice welcome home like feel with pancakes to drool over. The coffee is delicious. The place is clean. It could get a little crowded but thata because the place is a little small. Does cater to dietary needs, great location.

Love this spot. Gets super busy so go early. Bar seating is usually faster. Honestly, one of the best traditional diners in the city.

It's like going to eat at a cafe ran by family, minus the family discount of course... Good thing the food is delicious and reasonably priced!

This is one of my favorite breakfast places! It has a really cool neighborhood and community vibe. The staff is on point. Food always comes out really quickly and my coffee never gets low. Very affordable too. Can't say enough good things, absolutely love it.

The breakfast tacos 🌮 were unexpectedly delicious! And yes, the salsa was so fresh and tasty. Gotta have it! Breakfast made in heaven. Staff was very friendly!

I LOVE this spot. The pancakes are perfect ‘syrup sponges’ ❤️❤️Always super busy, which is saying something. My favorite dish, and really the only dish I ever get, are the pancakes. Everything else is good but the pancakes are why I go. And the Whole Lotta Love Latte is also pretty great!UPDATE. The tuna sourdough is pretty great!

The service is above Anything imaginable. My mocha caramel latte was extremely delicious. My whole group of 4 were very impressed on the taste of our food. Everyone ordered something different and it all tasted wonderful. Our waitress was very attentive and hilarious, we loved her. Next time we're in Austin we will definitely stop by.

Been here several times. Food is amazing and so cost efficient and staff is friendly. Will be back for sure.

Roommate and I checked this place out for the 1st time ever. They were quick and efficient getting us seated with menus, good covid practice and very polite. Food was out fast but didn't taste "rushed" and their mocha was delicious. Hopefully will be able to stip ny again before I move out of the area

Amazing service and great food! Its definitely worth a try

Roasted coffee smell greeted us upon entry. Small hole in the wall has fast turnover despite a line forming in front. It took us under 10 minutes to be seated. Fresh coffee beans sold up front. I ordered the Java (2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 bacons, toast, tea) while hubby settled for the pancake platter with Philly cheese omelette. Enjoyed our brunch, the eclectic south western art decorating the walls, and the fact that this place provides organic ketchup (Hunt's)!

Let me start off by saying the service is perfect. Nearly everyone stopped and offered to get us something/pre-bus (&not in an annoying way). The breakfast tacos are fireee! And their coffee is pretty good too!

Cafe Java had good food, great service time and the employees behind the bistro were very helpful. I appreciate the attentiveness to our requests from everyone there. I did enjoy seeing the staff wipe down tables in a prompt manner. Restrooms were clean and fully stocked. I would recommend this place for anyone needing a small cafe place for a bit.

Simple well made food every time. The hill country breakfast plate is a winner. The biscuits are surprisingly light in texture so you'll have no problem slamming down the whole plate. Endless coffee will jumpstart your morning/afternoon.

This was my first visit, and it was legitimately amazing! I really enjoyed the ribeye steak and eggs. Everything was cooked exactly as I asked and was very high quality. When you order decaf coffee here they make you a decaf Americano, which is pretty sweet. Our waitress was extremely helpful. She checked in just the right amount, was friendly, and had good recommendations and commentary regarding menu items. Highly recommended.

Had an amazing breakfast here yesterday!! Julie was a great waitress! I would highly recommend the iced coffee caramel machiotto!

Good experience as usual, good tasting food, and if you arrive at 9 am on Sunday there should be no wait. Our server was Isha and she did great!!! Also there is a older gentlemen up front who does a good job taking ownership, and making sure everything is running smooth. Great biz, breakfast spot, and good team!!

I was pleasantly surprised by the GREAT atmosphere and food! Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Wonderful service! Everyone would come by and ask if everything was good not just my server. Watching how they interacted with multiple people the service didn't change. Great with kids! And the food...! It reminded me of when food was good and playful. Like when was the last time food made you feel like a kid?! AMAZING!

DO NOT ORDER HERE. Especially to-go, ordered a 2 x 2 x 2 as well as their tacos. All I got was soggy French toast, two strips of burnt bacon, and piled up egg with a funny smell. I have no clue where these great reviews are coming from. I didn’t think to check my order when I got it due to coming near close as a A courtesy not to hold them up. I expect a complete refund, had to throw away all the “food.” I hope you check any orders before leaving that place. I hope they make this right, first time even trying it.

Cafe Java is always a great experience. Great diner atmosphere and great service. For me it's the best breakfast in the area. Crispy corned beef hash, perfect hash browns and toast done right; on the griddle. On my most recent visit I hot the special. Meatloaf Monday. The meatloaf had good flavor and texture. Good gravy as well. The vegetables were in some sort of gravy as well. Tasted like a lite chicken gravy almost

I've only had breakfast and coffee here, but so far I am a fan. This is our go to breakfast stop when we're in Austin. Attentive service, amazing breakfast, with a large menu to choose from. Any choice here is a good choice. There is an excellent variety of coffee and tea, both hot and iced. Bonus points for the community made artwork on the wall, named and priced if you desire to take a piece home.

In the ten years I've dined at Cafe Java, I've only ever ordered one thing. While I am extremely sure ALL their menu items are delicious, I'm happy to continue enjoying the same meal each and every time I visit simply because it's good food that's done right. In my opinion, that's hard to beat.

Cafe Java was super good. Home style breakfast with a very unique looking interior. We came on a Sunday afternoon, and there was a line out the door. The food and latte was very good, but I am not sure that it was worth the hassle of trying to find a parking spot or waiting for as long as we did. The restaurant is not super big, but they were getting people in and out as quick as they could.

Had a coffee, burger and cheesecake. The burger was meh, but the coffee and cheesecake were spectacular. Really chill atmosphere and comfortable.

We've been here several times. I promise you won't regret it- it's a local shop with very friendly staff (not to mention funny). All the food is great, and they offer specials daily. You can also buy coffee beans there as well. Great experience, will return! Big thank you to the gentleman who helped split our tab with ease and kindness!! Thanks Cafe Java.

This is a good local stop. I’m not in this area often but I’ve been here twice now and the food and service were very good both times. In a city where joints with brunch options are usually packed, this is a great alternative.

Great people and great service. It's that place where you feel like family. Lots of breakfast menu items to choose from you really can't go wrong. On this trip I got the ham steak and eggs... so good with a hot cup of black, house coffee. Highly recommend.

We like to gather there with our sons when we are in town. All people at our table recieved the exact order as requested & in a timely manner. Personal cheerfully attended to our needs. Good foods & good coffees.

My wife and I were looking for a good breakfast spot to eat at. We were both on the verge of “hangry” so when we walked in and saw how full it was we almost left. We were seated fairly quickly, and the staff were all hard at work. The food is beyond amazing. The plates are big and very satisfying. My wife and I both left satisfied.

I've never had the coffee when I go here, but the food is decent and the customer service is super friendly. My only complaint is the food prices, which I feel are slightly high for the quality you're getting, namely the burgers. Would recommend!
